Re: Dust jacket covers

Demco can be contacted at 1-800-356-1200 or
www.demco.com, but as you can tell by the phone
number, they're based in the US as well and may have
postage rates that are also too high.

If Demco doesn't work for you, Conservation Resources
International, LLC., is based in the UK (Oxford). Try
www.conservationresources.com. I don't know that they
sell pre-made dust jackets, but they do sell rolls and
sheets of Mylar in various sizes, which you could
easily cut and fold into nicely-fitting dust jackets
(especially since you say you don't need to have very
many). An x-acto knife and a nice straightedge should
be sufficient. If you need more instruction for how to
make them, let me know and I'll send a sheet of
instructions.

You will want to buy something like Mylar, which is a
trade name for sheet polyester, or maybe polyethylene,
for the covers; these are inert plastics and therefore
of archival quality by their composition. Many other
plastics used for dust jackets are made of various
vinyls and other nasty plastics that will not do any
favors for you or your books (they off-gas acids and
will likely eventually crack and turn yellow).
