Just now on eBay a 1562 edition of Peurbach Theoricae novae
planetarum is being offered by a dealer in Niagara Falls, who announces it
as the 2nd Venetian edition, the first being 1495, and the third edition
overall. When I pointed out to the seller that this appears to me to be
the 21st Venetian edition and something like the 40th to 50th edition
overall, he responded that I was mixing up editions and printings, and
that John Carter was a hot air balloon.
Do any of you want to comment on printings versus editions?
