MODERATOR--Viruses and Hoaxes

Exlibris is attacked daily by viruses, but none of them have managed to get
through yet because the list protocols will not pass through messages with
anything but a .txt extension on an attachment. The latest round of
flurried activity at a supposed virus scare leads me to repeat two requests
to the list's members:

1) Please never send anything to the list as an attachment. If you do,
you're probably just wasting your time, anyway, since Listproc will usually
just strip it off and dump it.

2) Please remove Exlibris from your address book, especially those of you
using Outlook, which is the program for which most viruses are written.
The list address is easy to remember, and if nobody had the address in an
address book, the latest scare would have been obviated. Removing it would
also reduce or eliminate the virus laden messages unsuccessfully sent to
the list.

As Bartles and James used to say, "Thank you for your support."
