New RBMS members in Atlanta

With apologies for cross-posting ...

NEW RBMS MEMBERS IN ATLANTA

Are you a new (or relatively new) member of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section (RBMS) of ACRL/ALA? Are you attending the RBMS preconference and/or the ALA Annual Conference in Atlanta?

If so, the RBMS Membership and Professional Development Committee would like to invite you to participate in the RBMS buddy program. The buddy program, now in its seventh year, is designed to welcome new members to the section and to answer questions about RBMS. If you wish to participate, you will be matched up with a more experienced RBMS member who has volunteered to be a buddy. Your buddy will contact you to arrange a time during the conference when you can meet, and he or she will be glad to help you plan your RBMS conference activities, introduce you to other RBMS members, and answer your questions about the section.

If you are interested in participating, please e-mail me by Friday, May 31, and I will give your name, e-mail address, and work telephone number to a volunteer buddy. Please be sure to let me know if you are interested in a buddy for the RBMS preconference or the ALA conference or both, and please include a very brief statement of your interests and your position (or student status). If you wish to include information about your travel dates and where you will be staying, that will help your buddy contact you in Atlanta if you have any difficulty connecting before you leave.

My e-mail address is henry.raine@nyu.edu. Or feel free to call me if you have questions at (212) 595-3036.

I look forward to hearing from you, and to meeting you in Atlanta. Many thanks in advance for your interest and participation.

Henry Raine
Chair, RBMS Membership and Professional Development Committee
