Volunteers to be RBMS buddies in Atlanta

With apologies for cross-posting ...

VOLUNTEERS TO BE RBMS BUDDIES IN ATLANTA

The RBMS Membership and Professional Development Committee would like to invite experienced members of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section who are attending the RBMS preconference and/or the ALA annual conference in Atlanta to participate in the RBMS buddy program.

This program, now in its seventh year, is designed to introduce new members to RBMS and help them make connections with other members. If you volunteer as an experienced member of RBMS, your responsibilities will be to contact your assigned new member to arrange a time when you can meet during the conference, so that you can answer his or her questions about RBMS and how to participate in the section, help the new member plan his or her conference activities, and introduce the new member to other RBMS members.

If you are interested in volunteering to be a buddy, please e-mail me by Friday, May 31, and I will assign a new member to you. Please let me know if you are available to be a buddy at the preconference or the annual conference or both. If you want to include information about your travel dates and where you will be staying, that will help me or your assigned new member contact you in Atlanta if you have any difficulty connecting before you leave.

My e-mail address is henry.raine@nyu.edu. Or feel free to call me if you have any questions, at (212) 595-3036.

I hope that you will consider volunteering for this important program, and I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you in advance for your support and participation in the buddy program.

Henry Raine
Chair, RBMS Membership and Professional Development Committee
