As is stated in the Exlibris Information file, which all subscribers
receive, libraries, museums, and other not-for-profits are exempt from the
policy that otherwise bars trying to solicit or sell individual items on
the list. Only those institutions are exempt, however. As in the recent
case, I have always assumed--and it seems to be so--that such institutions
would appeal to Exlibris only as a desperate last resort. If such postings
got to be too frequent, the policy would have to be rethought.
