Many of you will know that I move from Edinburgh to the
Bodleian Library, Oxford (as Keeper of Special
Collections) next month.
Accordingly Edinburgh University Library has the
following vacancy:
DIRECTOR OF UNIVERSITY COLLECTIONS
You will be responsible for the development and
direction of University Collections, including Library
Special Collections, Archives, Museums and
Galleries. As a member of the Library senior
management team, Convener of the Committee of
Curators and Secretary to the University Collections
Advisory Committee, you will participate in the strategic
management and development of the Library and the
University.
You will lead daily work, to plan strategically for the
widest possible exploitation of the collections University-
wide and participate in collections development at a
national and international level. You will be a change
agent and driver, with a willingness to take advantage of
the opportunities offered by new technologies and a
major commitment to fundraising and publicity.
Significant experience in working with and managing
collections, with specific experience in library special
collections, is essential
