Dear Holly,
The University of Tulsa has an extensive collection of playbills and thus I
would be interested in seeing the list that your husband has. I will contact
him at the email address you give below. We are always interested in
hearing about small collections such as that assembled by your husband's
aunt, as we are interested in making our collection as complete as possible.
For the group at large, you may be interested to know that I am currently
working with a member of our History faculty in developing a course on
consumerism in America. Our playbill collection will be used in that course.
The advertisements that are included in the playbills give an interesting
insight into what was being marketed and how to the theatre-going populace.

My husband has a collection of 133 Playbills, all Broadway shows, that
belonged to his aunt, who died in 1983. They run from 1939 to 1973. Nearly
all are in very good to very fine condition. He would rather donate these
to an institution that could use them than put them on E-Bay or in the
recycling bucket. If you're interested let him know, and he can provide
you with a list. He's Joel Gardner, jrghistory@aol.com
