I'm not a user of OCR software but just read an article yesterday about
one which seems to be specially designed for such types (which we call
in German 'Fraktur', is it 'Gothic types' in English?). If you read
German, you might be interested in that article, it appeared in the
recent issue of Bibliothekdienst 5 (2004), p.677ff. The software is
called BIT-Fraktur.
