Summary:
THE JOHN ADAMS LIBRARY
The Library built by President John Adams was one of the largest
personal collections of its day. The Library reflects Adams' personal
interests, including English law and government, classics, history,
science, agriculture, theology and philosophy. Many items are richly
annotated in his hand. The collection has been housed at the Boston
Public Library since 1894. Preparation of a new scholarly catalog is
underway.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs original and complex copy cataloging of monographs and serials
from the John Adams Library. 

QUALIFICATIONS
MLS from an ALA-accredited library school. Knowledge of AACR2, MARC21
and DCRB. Prior cataloging experience. Must be a resident of Boston upon
first day of hire. Broad knowledge of American history, knowledge of
Latin and European languages, familiarity with automated information
systems.
 
SALARY: This is a temporary, grant-funded position. $22/hour, average 18
hours per week ca. 9 months.
