Greetings to the Exlibris group,
I am currently leading a research team that is investigating the Cherokee
Chiefs Major Ridge (aka The Ridge) and his son John Ridge (ca. 1770-1840). We are
searching for manuscript collections that include primary documents to and
from the Ridges (and their immediate families), particularly as they relate to
the Ridge plantations on the Oostanaula River near Rome, Georgia. This is part
of a historic structure and cultural landscape study that is being conducted
by the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home with assistance from the National
Park Service, Trail of Tears unit. We have identified most of the known major
sources, but I am hoping that readers of this list may have knowledge of
uncataloged or otherwise obscure documents. Any help is appreciated. I am not a
subscriber to this list, so email me at danelliott@aol.com, or telephone (706)
