The Jerusalem Post Online Edition contains an article dated July 8,
2004, and updated July 11, 2004, by Jenny Hazan entitled "Attack of the
bookworms" with a sub-head "The Jewish National and University Library joins
forces with government ministries to battle against imported bookworms ".
The article begins: "The National Library has joined forces with the
ministries of Environment and Health to remove a particular strain of bug
from circulation. The insect infestation is threatening to eat the pages of
hundreds of the 19th-century Judaica books held by the Jewish National and
University Library (JNUL) at the Hebrew University at Givat Ram. 'It's not
an easy job,' says the Hebrew University's Orit Sulitzeanu, explaining that
there is a possibility that the library may have to close for the summer to
decontaminate a few million books, which may or may not require the use of
toxic chemicals."
