Dear Ms Osborn:
I would be very interested in hearing more of your research regarding
changing patterns of book buying because of the internet.
I have been in the antiquarian book business for nearly 40 years, most
of them involved in selling to university libraries, and so I have many
opinions on the subject. Not all of my ideas have data to support them (nor do my
colleagues'!) but I am always interested in another story, anecdotal or
substantial.
So, without turning our lives inside out over this (I do have to make a
living afterall, and you won't get much standing in Academia from me!) I would
love an email notation or two.
By the way, I was just asked to be on a panel of librarians and
bookdealers to address this very issue next June at the ALA RBMS conference in Austin,
Texas. Perhaps you will be there.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Michael
Thompson
