Antiquarian Bookseller Assistant Bruce McKittrick Rare Books, Inc.

Work in a small international antiquarian book business specializing in pre-1800 European printed books and manuscripts in our Main Line office in suburban Philadelphia (20 min. west of the city, 13 min. by train). We are open by appointment. We maintain a stock of approximately 1000 pre-1800 Continental printed books and manuscripts. We issue several printed catalogues a year to a mailing list of about 1000. The majority of our business is by mail. We participate in at least two major antiquarian book fairs a year. We maintain close relationships with libraries, collectors, scholars and other members of the trade in the U.S. and abroad. We are active members of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America (ABAA), the Syndicat national de la librairie ancienne and moderne (SLAM) and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).

Qualifications:
--Computer literacy in Macintosh, Filemaker Pro and Microsoft Word.
--Sound working knowledge of Latin and at least one modern European language, preferably German.
--Good typing and phone skills.
--Willingness to learn.
--Flexibility.
--Ability to do everything from wrapping packages to scholarly research.


Salary: $31,000.00
