Applications are invited for the full-time position of
Executive Director of The Book Club of California, 312
Sutter Street, San Francisco, California

The Book Club of California, founded in 1912, is a
501c3 non-profit organization devoted to furthering
the interest of book collectors and the general public
in the literature and history of the West and in the
graphic arts and in fine printing, The organization
maintains club rooms and a library in San Francisco,
publishes books, a quarterly newsletter and keepsakes
for its members, and also sponsors public programs,
exhibitions, lectures and a grants program.

Duties and Responsibilities:  The job requires a
self-motivated person with a knowledge of the book
arts, experience in modern office management and good
people skills. Duties include proof reading,
maintaining accounting records, taking and
distributing committee minutes and notifying the
membership of meetings and events as well as managing
the clubs facilities.

The Executive Director supervises the Membership
Secretary whose assigned tasks include membership
record keeping, shipment of publications and receiving
revenues. The Executive Director reports to the
officers and Board of Directors, through the
President.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:  Bachelors
degree or equivalent. Working knowledge of computers
and the ability to maintain a web site.  Good
communication and problem-solving skills required. 
The Director will be an important representative of
the Club and will interact with the public and other
book-arts institutions.

Salary and benefits: $ 50,000/60,000, depending on
experience, plus benefits.
