Re: Latin abbreviation query, brief.



Jane,

 I checked Cappelli and found PPP (with several possible meanings: Parentes pii posuerunt, pater pius posuit, Patri piissimo posuit (or posuerunt), Perpetuo Principi, etc.) and PPPPP (Praefecto praetorio per provinciam Pannonicam), but no PPPP.  Perhaps the abbreviation is a corruption of one of these?
