I tried another direction, and checked through online records for other
titles by the same author, to find an unabbreviated form. Though not
100% successful, I think "publici primarii professoris Patavini" is most
likely to be the answer.

I checked Cappelli and found PPP (with several possible meanings:
Parentes pii posuerunt, pater pius posuit, Patri piissimo posuit (or
posuerunt), Perpetuo Principi, etc.) and PPPPP (Praefecto praetorio per
provinciam Pannonicam), but no PPPP. Perhaps the abbreviation is a
corruption of one of these?
