I personally like Scribner's bookseller (later librarian at the Lilly
Library) David Randall's "Dukedom Large Enough" and the bio of ASW Rosenbach
(called "Rosenbach"). This spring, I read the late Carleton Lake's
Confessions of a Literary Archeaologist, the memoir of a
collector-turned-librarian, and I found it one of the better collector
memoirs. If you are interested in the Smiley map-theft case, Island of Lost
Maps is a lurid account of another map thief.

Subject: [EXLIBRIS] Best Memoirs of Book Collectors/Dealers?
I'm looking for summer reading. What would list members recommend as the
best memoirs by rare book collectors or dealers?
