I think we have collectively forgotten Frances Steloff and W. G.
Rogers's "Wise Men Fish Here", Harcourt Brace [1965] which I remember
reading with great enjoyment when it was published.
Buying a book from Miss Steloff was quite an experience--having
assembled your books you placed them before her--out came the eraser
and pencil and many an ancient price was removed and brought up to
date, usually resulting in a still extremely reasonable purchase.
Her literary soirees were famous, I only made one in the mid 1970s.
We must not forget Miss Steloff she was an institution.
