Re: Grad. course on the Antiquarian Book Trade planned



Regrettably, almost everything said at an RBMS Preconference vanishes into the air, the only exception being the few papers eventually published in the section's journal. I have privately complained about this situation for years but nobody in RBMS seems to want to preserve the proceedings in any meaningful way.

At any rate, your students should definitely be acquainted with "Forged Documents: Proceedings of the 1989 Houston Conference," ed. Pat Bozeman (New Castle: Oak Knoll, 1990), which explores many of the knotty relationships between the trade and libraries. That publication does preserve the entire conference proceedings, including all the discussions, etc.
