I am happy to report that the printed sheets of _American Decorated
Publishers' Bindings, 1872-1929_ have just arrived, so there will be
at least a few bound copies to show at the Oak Knoll Book Fest in New
Castle, Delaware on October 7 & 8.
This is the Limited Edition of 100 copies, which was printed in
Atlanta, GA, on an Indigo 5000 digital offset press. It has been
expanded to 500 designs, with color illustrations of about 250
printed in the text sections and another hundred or so as smaller
images in the checklist. This edition will be issued paperbound in a
paper wrapper. That means a second paper wrapper over the paperback
binding. A CD-ROM accompanies it, with images of all the books and
variants and the database file in .xls and .txt formats.
A Deluxe Edition of 25 copies is being printed by photographic
quality archival pigment inkjet in my studio. It is slightly larger
in format, and the checklist includes color images of all the cover
art not in the text sections, for a total of over 500 images. This
edition will be in a stamped cloth binding that is adapted from one
of the designs in the collection. The CD-ROM is mounted in the back
cover of this edition.
The CD-ROM is also available by itself, and includes the complete
Deluxe Edition text and illustrations in PDF format, the database
with images, and the html version of the checklist.
Subscribers receive a passcode for access now to the private website
with the complete checklist and other resources. I expect to have
bound copies ready for delivery beginning in mid-October.
About half of both the Limited Edition and the Deluxe Edition have
already been subscribed. The pre-publication discount pricing expires
October 8. This was extended from the original September 30 date to
include the Oak Knoll Book Fest.
