Dear Colleagues,
I know that many of you will have this answer, so please reply directly to
me so as not to clutter the list.
As some of you may know, the Lloyd Library is in the midst of a renovation
project. Our reading room has never had the capability of providing table
lamps for readers, and due to the cost of drilling through a thick concrete
floor, we will continue to rely on ceiling lights. I am faced with a choice
between three different ceiling lamps and am trying to determine which one
will provide optimal light for our patrons. The project manager is checking
with the manufacturer to determine footcandle light at table height-in other
words, by the time the light hits our reading room tables, what is the
footcandle light the researcher will have to read by? While I have seen
optimal footcandle measurements in the past, the information has long since
either left or gotten lost in my cluttered brain. If someone would be so
kind as to tell me this number I will be able to compare it to the numbers
obtained by the project manager and then, ideally, choose wisely.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give me.
Best wishes,
Maggie
