[EXLIBRIS-L] john buckland wright down under

Dear Exlibris and SHARP members,
If any members are visiting the South Island of New Zealand during the next three months, please schedule a visit to our latest exhibition at Special Collections, University of Otago, Dunedin.

Titled "Master of the Burin: the Book Illustrations of John Buckland Wright, 1897-1954", it features the exquisite wood and copper engravings by this Dunedin-born artist who left here in the early 1900s and became one of the best book illustrators of the 30s, 40s and 50s. For a large part of his life, JBW lived in Brussels and Paris, mixing with artists such as Picasso, Matisse, W.S. Hayter, & Miro. The exhibition is simply stunning.

Hours : 8.30 to 5.00 Monday to Friday.
Please note: the University Library will be closed over the Xmas/NY period - and reopens on the 3rd January 2007.

I look forward to seeing you.
Cheers
Donald
