[EXLIBRIS-L]

Dave,

Close, but no cigar. The Youtube book collector collects early issues of THE CHICAGO MANUAL OF STYLE. On the other hand, I collect early issues of THE ELEMENTS OF STYLE. I still have three issues of the 1920 first trade edition (I gave two copies away as gifts), one copy of the 1934 edition that Strunk co-authored with Edward A. Tenney, and one one copy of a circa 1940 edition by Strunk alone. Counting the later editions by Strunk and E. B. White, I have eleven copies of THE ELEMENTS OF STYLE.

Thanks for remembering me!
Jerry Morris,
Man of Other People's Letters, Ret. (finally)

I've seen one or two Youtube videos referred to in posts to various
lists I belong to. I finally decided to search for "book collect" on
the site and got about 25 hits. At least one is for an
honest-to-goodness book collector, and two are promotions for Helfond
Book Gallery. Some of the rest appear to be about comic book collectors.

The honest-to-goodness book collector collects, among other things,
Chicago style manuals, and opines that it's unlikely that anyone else
does. If I'm not mistaken, Jerry Morris, who often posts to exlibris
  also collects these.

So...it's possible to be a member of the "with it" crowd even if one
collects books, sells books, or practices librarianship.

  Dave
