I just want to remind everyone that Exlibris policy has for many years now
required that any job ad posted contain salary figures, either a minimum
salary or a hiring range. People continue to post ads without that
information and then refuse to provide it, however, usually with the excuse
"I didn't know," although the policy is clearly set forth in the information
every subscriber receives when s/he signs up. Those policies are for
everyone's guidance, and both I and the list membership expect subscribers
to be familiar with them and follow them. There's no excuse for posting a
job ad without salary figures, just as there is no excuse for posting a
catalogue announcement on Friday or an announcement trying to sell a 93
Jaguar. Failing to follow policy merely abuses the membership and those
institutions who do abide by list policies.
