Re: American Sunday-School Union address

Dear Mr. Nickeson (and anyone else interested in dating imprints issued
by the American Sunday-School Union):

The American Sunday-School Union was located at 146 Chestnut St.,
Philadelphia, between 1827 and 1853. The ASSU was located at 1122
Chestnut St. between 1857 and 1907.

The ASSU is listed in the Nineteenth-Century American Children's Book
Trade Directory, (compiled by me). It is available online at:

Subject: [EXLIBRIS-L] American Sunday-School Union address

When was the American Sunday-School Union located at 146 Chestnut St. in
Philadelphia? I'm cataloging an undated copy of _The history of John
Robins, the sailor_, which has "26" stamped on the spine. OCLC #78437306
is for a copy that is no. 26 in the "Child's cabinet library", with a
suggested date in the 1860s, but that copy bears a different address
(1122 Chestnut St.).

The entry for the firm in _American Literary Publishing Houses
1638-1899_ unfortunately gives no addresses.
