Re: -Exlibris spam, etc.

Thanks, Everett,
So that's where all those greeting cards originate. Couldn't think of any reason I should be so popular all at once.

Subject: [EXLIBRIS-L] MODERATOR--Exlibris spam, etc.

The new Exlibris address has been continuously subject to being forged and used to send pretty good amounts of Spam, viruses, etc. I am now receiving at least a dozen error messages a day concerning bounced mail supposedly from Exlibris that contained attachments or malicious messages. There are currently three main types making the rounds: 1) an attached PDF file; 2) an attached Zip file; and 3) a message saying you have a greeting card and asking you to go to a web site to retrieve it. The last type does not contain an attachment but rather an embedded URL. In any case, all such messages are potentially dangerous.?
?
This is just a reminder that Exlibris will never send you a message with an attachment. If you receive such a message supposedly from Exlibris, it is a spoof and should be immediately discarded. So far as I know, no Exlibris subscriber has ever sent the list a greeting card message. I do occasionally get odd-looking subscription requests but discard them.?
