Hello, everyone, I'm cataloging a 1530 Hardouyn book of hours and am having trouble identifying a coat of arms that is part of its binding. The binding is late seventeenth century calf, and it's been rebacked, though the spine does not appear to be original. At the center of the spine is a coat of arms stamped in gilt. Unfortunately, the left and right edges of the stamp -- including much of the motto -- are hidden underneath the rebacked covers. What does show appears to be the coat of arms of Montenegro, with a Byzantine double-headed eagle and lion passant on a shield at center. Above the arms is part of the motto: "...VIO MA[C?]..." Can anyone shed some light on what I'm looking at here? Thanks! Sincerely, Mike Garabedian
