Interlibrary Loan of Rare Materials

DO NOT USE YOUR REPLY FUNCTION TO RESPOND TO THIS MESSAGE. MAKE SURE ANY
RESPONSE COMES TO ME.

Several years ago, RBMS/ACRL promulgated a guideline to govern interlibrary
loan of rare and unique materials. It is available for the curious at:

<http://www.ala.org/ala/acrl/acrlstandards/rareguidelines.cfm>

If you have ever lent materials using these guidelines--or have ever lent
materials at all--I'd like to hear about your experiences, why you did it,
why you didn't do it, etc. Note that these guidelines do not cover
exhibitions. They are intended to cover situations in which you actually
send materials on interlibrary loan to another library for use by a patron
in their reading room.
