I am writing to ask you to help us with the evaluation of our new online
project, funded by a grant from the Institute for Museum & Library
Services. The database includes high-resolution images of manuscripts
representing approximately 65% of the library's collections of almost
300 codices and more than 2,000 individual leaves and cuttings.
We have created an online survey that should take very little time to
complete - ten minutes or less. Because the link is long, we ask you to
visit this page, which has links to the database and to the survey:

Survey results will form part of the final report to the Institute for
Museum and Library Services. We hope that you will explore the site,
take the survey, and share the link with colleagues and students so that
it will have the widest possible distribution. Strong response to the
survey will serve two important purposes: it will demonstrate the
extent of interest in the topic, and it will provide both the project
team and the technology staff at the Free Library with valuable feedback
that can be used to improve this project and future projects.
As a way of thanking you for your participation, we would like to enter
your name in a drawing to receive a $50 gift certificate to Amazon.com.
We will be closing the survey on November 30, so there are only a few
days left to win, just in time for holiday shopping.
The evaluation team includes Janine Pollock, Assistant Head, Rare Book
Department, Free Library of Philadelphia (pollockj@freelibrary.org );
David McKnight, Director, Schoenberg Center for Electronic Text &
Imaging, University of Pennsylvania Libraries (dmcknigh@pobox.upenn.edu
); and Laura Blanchard, Executive Director of the Philadelphia Area
Consortium of Special Collections Libraries (PACSCL),
(lblanchard@pacscl.org ). Feel free to contact any of us with questions
or comments.
