Re: California Rare Book School 2008

My question is a little different. Are these courses officially a part of the credit-bearing offerings of the U. of Cal.? Can one actually transfer credit from UCLA for these courses, if other lib. schools allow students to transfer credits from accredited institutions where the course is pertinent, etc.?

We have a way of turning RBS-Va courses into credit-bearing courses for our students but it involves additional work, and a lot of other steps. I really wanted to know if the Ca RBS courses are actually a part of the UCLA course offerings.

We're just trying to gather facts about other opportunities and we want to be sure to get our data right.

Thanks much,
Deirdre

Dear Deirdre,

course credit must be determined by your home institution. UCLA's
MLIS program does give course credit (CALRBS class time, 40 hours in
one week, is equivalent to one academic quarter), but I'm not sure
about other schools. Hope this answers your question.

Best,

Jeff
