Re: CoLibri Book Covering System

We have been using the Colibri system for about 2 years. It has its
plusses and minuses.

The books with Colibri covers are 99.99 % modern imprints, soft and hard
covered, that can withstand the treatment. The Colibri covered books
are then bar coded and labeled as we are trying to remove the acid free
cards as they damage the pages. (The bar-coding and machine generated
labels have added more processing time, but have been outstanding
additions to the work flow).

I have used the covers for books with red rot and for those that are
spiral bound. But, it is a case by case issue with each book as to
whether or not a colibri cover or another type of protective
covering/housing will be used for a book.

Every now and then, the system doesn't provide a good seal, and one can
end up with feathering along the edges.

I have yet to see a book damaged by a Colibri cover -- as long as the
fit is not too tight.

And, the system is very student friendly. Please feel to contact me off
line if you need more information.
